Matt & Catt Porter
Thank you for your interest in us and our photography! Here is a little info about us and our family:
Matthew and Catherine met in middle-school at the age of thirteen. Shortly after becoming friends, Catt’s family moved about an hour away and they didn’t really keep in-touch outside of the annual “Happy Birthday!” on Facebook. However, after graduating high school, Catt reached out to Matt and suggested they catch-up. Well…that led to one thing or another and they ended up getting married in 2017 after Matt graduated college.
About a year and a half later, their first daughter was born, and it completely changed their lives. After evaluating where they wanted to settle down and raise a family, they decided to move to South Weber Utah in 2020. Since moving, they have had their second daughter and a son! They also somehow ended up with two dogs and two cats!
Matt was born with a rare genetic bleeding disorder called “Severe Hemophilia A with a high-titer Inhibitor.” Or in layman’s-terms “his blood don’t clot.” This causes his joints, muscles, and internal tissues to painfully swell with blood, often for no perceptual reason. This bleeding into the joints specifically, causes permanent bone damage and, as a result, Matt has been wheelchair-bound since the age of six. To distract himself from the pain associated with this, Matt started getting into many hobbies from a very young age.
One of the first hobbies Matt was very serious about was birdwatching. Something about the natural freedom that birds have has always captivated him. This went hand-in-hand with another hobby of his, photography. Since the age of fifteen, Matt has had a passion for photographing avian life. He then taught everything he knew to Catherine when they started dating, and her subject of choice was families and children.
From the moment their first daughter was born, the camera ceased to be pointed towards the sky, and was instead pointed at her at every opportunity. This really allowed the couple to learn the intricacies of capturing maternity, newborn, toddler, and family photos. To this day, the Porters try to do a photoshoot of their girls at least once per month!
And that brings us to current day! Where Catt still loves capturing the precious moments such as newborns, family photoshoots, and couples. Likewise, Matt still has a huge passion for birds, military aircraft, nature, drone photography, and pretty much everything else! Matt is also the go-to photo editor on the team. He is now also on a groundbreaking new medication that has essentially cured his medical condition! Although the damage that was done over the past 30 years still remains. This medication is nothing short of a miracle.
Thank you again for your interest in our story. We would love the opportunity to capture your life’s moments so that they can be forever cherished.
